Share or Save Does Nothing
Why a shared match card, lineup plan or PDF sometimes doesn't appear
Share or Save Does Nothing
Sharing or saving a match result card, line-up plan image or stats PDF usually works in one tap. If it seems to do nothing, it's worth checking which of these it actually is before assuming something's broken.
What you'll learn
- Why closing the share screen without choosing anything is expected, not a bug
- What to do if saving photos is blocked on your phone
- Why updating the app can fix Android sharing
- What a real error toast looks like, and what to do about it
You closed the share sheet without choosing anything
You tap Share, the device's share screen opens, and closing it without picking an app does nothing at all — no error, no toast.
This is by design. Dismissing the share sheet is treated as you changing your mind, not a failure, so nothing is reported.
- Tap Share again — Pick an app or Save to Photos/Files this time.
- Look for a toast if something's genuinely wrong — A real failure always shows red text at the bottom of the screen; silence means nothing went wrong, you just backed out.
Saving photos is blocked on your phone
Choosing Save to Photos from the share sheet does nothing, or the app never gets as far as offering it.
SquadTracker asks for photo library access the first time you save or upload an image. If that was denied, the save can't complete.
- Open your phone's Settings — Find SquadTracker under installed apps.
- Check Photos permission — Turn it on (iOS: Settings → SquadTracker → Photos).
- Try the share again — From Share Result, the line-up plan's Share button, or Export to PDF.
You're on an older app version
Sharing or saving on Android does nothing, with no error at all, and this has been going on for a while.
A bug in Android sharing and saving was fixed in the app's late-July 2026 release — older installs can still hit it.
- Update the app — Open the Play Store, search SquadTracker, and tap Update.
- Reopen the app and try again — See Download and Install SquadTracker if you need the store link.
A real error appeared
You see a red toast: "Could not share — please try again", "Could not save — please try again", or "Could not export PDF — please try again". On the web, with no share option, the file downloads instead of opening a share screen — check your Downloads folder.
These are genuine failures — usually a dropped connection while the image or PDF was being generated.
- Check your connection and try again — Press Share, Download or Export to PDF once more.
- Still failing? — Close and reopen the app, then retry.
