Team Chat for Coaches
How the shared team chat works, and the extra pinning and moderation controls coaches have
Team Chat for Coaches
Team Chat is one open conversation for your whole team — you, your assistant coaches, every linked parent and every player aged 16 or over all share it. It's the quickest way to post a match update, settle a question, or run a quick poll without starting a group text chain.
What you'll learn
- How to post messages, photos and polls in team chat
- What extra controls coaches have that parents and players don't
- How long photos stick around before they're removed
- How to mute notifications, and what to do if chat isn't showing up
Quick Steps
- Open Team Chat — Tap Messages in the bottom menu, or Team Chat in the drawer menu.
- Post an update — Type a message and press send, or tap the image icon to share a photo from a match or training session.
- Start a poll — Tap the poll icon, add a question and 2–6 options, turn on Multiple answers if more than one choice should be allowed, then press Post poll.
- Pin an important message — Tap a message to open its actions, then choose 24h, 3d or 7d to pin it to the top of the chat for everyone.
- Remove a message if needed — Tap any message — yours or someone else's — and press the bin icon to remove it for everyone.
What makes the coach view different
Your name shows a Coach badge next to every message you send. You're the only one who can pin a message to the top of the chat — for 24 hours, 3 days or 7 days — and unpin it early from the amber banner. You can also remove any message in the chat, not just your own, which keeps things on track if something needs taking down. Like everyone else, you can edit or delete only your own text messages, react with an emoji, and vote in polls.
Photos, notifications and multiple teams
Photos are removed automatically after 7 days to keep storage down — the message itself stays, just the image expires. Tap the bell icon to mute or unmute notifications for the chat at any time. Coaches, parents and 16+ players all get a push notification when someone posts, unless they've muted the chat. If you coach more than one team, each has its own chat and its own unread badge.
If chat isn't showing up
Team Chat uses the same channel as the Parent & Player Hub, so it only works while the Hub is switched on for your team. If you see "The Parent & Player Hub is switched off", open Team Management and turn the Hub on from the Player Hub tab.
Keep it safe for the children
Everything posted here is visible to every coach, parent and player connected to the team, and the messages you send are included word for word in your own personal data download. Please keep health conditions, home addresses, school details and safeguarding matters about any child out of the chat — raise those privately with the family instead.
