Giving Consent Yourself (Players 16 and Over)

If you're 16 or over, you can give or decline your own consent on your coach's consent form — you don't need a parent or guardian to do it for you. The choices work exactly the same way as the parent version; this article covers what's different.

What you'll learn

  • How to choose "myself" on the consent form
  • What you need to type, and why it must match exactly
  • What approving and declining each change
  • Why under-16s still need a parent or guardian to do this instead

Quick Steps

  1. Open the link your coach sent you — It opens a Data Protection Consent form, no login needed.
  2. Choose "I am providing consent as" — Select Player (Age 16+). The form switches to ask for your own details instead of a child's.
  3. Enter your name — Type your full name under Your Name. You'll also enter it again under First Name and Last Name.
  4. Make sure it matches exactly — Your first and last name must match exactly what your coach entered when they added you to the squad.
  5. Read what's covered — Check the list of data being stored before you decide.
  6. Press Approve Consent or Decline Consent — You'll see a confirmation screen either way.

If your name doesn't match

SquadTracker checks what you type against your existing player record. Small typos are usually fine, but if it isn't confident, you'll see Name Not Found asking you to check the spelling or contact your coach.

What approving and declining change

Approving means your full name can be used wherever SquadTracker shows player names outside your own view — the coach's player list and stats page, the stats download, shared match result images and the lineup planner. SquadTracker records the name you typed and the date. Declining means only your initials are shown in those same places. Until you answer, you already appear as initials everywhere except the coach's private lineup planner. Either way, you keep your place on the team — you still play, still train, and still appear by name on the official match teamsheet.

If you're under 16

This form trusts you to confirm you're 16 or over — it doesn't check your age itself. If you're younger than 16, ask your parent or guardian to complete the form on your behalf instead; see Giving Consent for Your Child.

Changing your mind

Once you've answered, the form won't let you resubmit for yourself — ask your coach to update it if you want to change your decision later. If you get Hub access (your own Player Hub login), you can also flip the same choice yourself any time from Account → Privacy — see Stats and Privacy Choices in the Hub.
