Giving Consent for Your Child

What your coach's consent form asks for, what approving or declining changes, and how it relates to the Hub's privacy choices

Giving Consent for Your Child

Your coach has sent you a link to a short consent form. SquadTracker uses it to check you're happy for your child's name to be used alongside their football data — because many teams share match results, stats and photos where other families, and sometimes the public, can see them.

You might get a link for your child's specific team, or a link for the whole club that asks you to choose their team first. Either way, the form itself works the same.

What you'll learn

  • What the consent form asks for and why your coach is sending it
  • Why your child's name must match exactly what your coach entered
  • What approving consent changes, and what declining changes
  • How this consent form relates to the separate privacy choices in the Hub
  • How to change your mind after you've answered

Quick Steps

  1. Open the link your coach sent — It opens a Data Protection Consent form, no login needed.
  2. Choose "I am providing consent as" — Select Parent/Guardian. (If your child is 16 or over and answering for themselves, see Giving Consent Yourself instead.)
  3. Enter your name — Type your own full name under Your Name (Parent/Guardian).
  4. Enter your child's name exactly — Type their first and last name exactly as your coach entered them when they added your child to the squad.
  5. Read what's covered — Check the list of data being stored before you decide.
  6. Press Approve Consent or Decline Consent — You'll see a confirmation screen either way.

What the form asks you to agree to

The form lists exactly what SquadTracker stores: your child's first and last name, their team and position, match participation (games played, minutes), performance stats (goals, assists, awards) and training attendance. This is accessible to your team's coaches — or, if you used a club-wide link, the club's administrators too — for team management.

Why the name has to match exactly

SquadTracker checks what you type against the player record your coach already created. Small typos are usually fine, but if it isn't confident, you'll see Name Not Found asking you to check the spelling or contact your coach. If you try several times in a short space, you may also see a message asking you to wait a few minutes before trying again — that's just a brake on automated abuse, not a problem with your details.

What approving changes

Pressing Approve Consent means your child's full name can be used wherever SquadTracker shows player names outside your own view — the coach's player list and stats page, the stats download, shared match result images and the lineup planner. SquadTracker records the name you typed and the date, as proof of who gave consent and when.

Until you answer, your child is already protected: while consent is still pending they appear as initials in the coach's player list, team stats, downloads and shared match images. The one exception is the coach's private lineup planner, which shows full names for pending players so the coach can plan the game.

What declining changes

Pressing Decline Consent means only your child's initials are shown in the coach's player list, team stats, downloads, shared match images and the lineup planner. Nothing else changes: your child still plays, still trains, and still appears by name on the official match teamsheet your coach fills in for the league.

Consent form vs. Hub privacy choices

This consent form and the Hub's Allow social sharing switch (in Account → Privacy) are the same decision — just two different doors to it. Answer here, or flip that switch later, and either one updates the same record. The Hub's other switch, Share stats with the team, is separate and isn't on this form at all — it only controls whether your child appears on team leaderboards that other families can see, and has no effect on full name versus initials. See Stats and Privacy Choices in the Hub for both switches in full.

If you change your mind

Once you've answered for a player, this form won't let you resubmit for them — if nothing else on the team needs consent, you'll see No Pending Consents instead of the form. To change your answer, ask your coach, who can withdraw or re-approve consent on your behalf. If you later get Hub access, you can also flip Allow social sharing yourself any time, as above.
