Adding and Importing Players
How to add a player, edit their details, and bulk import a whole squad from a CSV file
Adding and Importing Players
Your squad lives on the Players page. Every player you add here becomes available for teamsheets, lineup plans, match tracking and stats. You can add players one at a time from your phone, or bulk import a whole squad from a spreadsheet if you're setting up a new team.
What you'll learn
- How to add a single player and what each field does
- What the "Requires parental consent" tick does for under-16s
- How to edit a player's name, jersey number or position
- Where to bulk import a squad from a CSV file, and what the file needs to look like
- What happens if an imported player's jersey number is already taken
Quick Steps
- Open Players — From the bottom menu tap Players.
- Tap Add Player — This opens the Add New Player form.
- Enter their name — First Name and Last Name are required.
- Add jersey number and position — Both optional. Jersey number must be between 1 and 99 and not already in use by an active player. Position is picked from a list (Goalkeeper, Centre Back, Left Back, Right Back, Defensive Midfielder, Central Midfielder, Attacking Midfielder, Left Winger, Right Winger, Striker, Centre Forward).
- Tick consent if they're under 16 — Tick Requires parental consent (under 16) and the player is created with consent status Pending. Share the consent link with their parent from their player card afterwards.
- Tap Add Player — The player appears straight away in your Team Roster.
Editing a player
Tap the pencil icon on any player's card to open Edit Player. You can change their first name, last name, jersey number (leave it blank to remove it) and position. The consent tick itself can't be changed from here — see Player Consent Explained and Collecting Consent from Parents and Players for how to start, change or withdraw consent.
Bulk importing a squad
If you're moving a whole squad in at once, use Bulk Import rather than adding players one by one.
- Where it lives — Go to Team Management. The Bulk Import button sits at the top of the page, next to the page title. It's only available to the head coach or team admin, and only from a desktop browser — it isn't shown on the app.
- File format — The dialog opens on the Players tab. Press Download Template for a ready-made CSV with the columns First Name, Last Name, Jersey Number (jersey number is optional).
- Upload and check — Upload your CSV and SquadTracker shows a preview of every player it found before anything is saved.
- Import — Press Import [N] Players to create them all in one go.
- Duplicate jersey numbers — If a row's jersey number is already used by an active player on the team, that player is still created but without a jersey number, and you'll see a row-by-row warning so you can fix it afterwards.
- Consent isn't set automatically — Imported players are created without "Requires parental consent" ticked. If any of them are under 16, request their consent afterwards from Team Management → Players → Manage Player Consent.
The same Bulk Import dialog has a second tab, Previous Results, for importing past match results and goal scorers from a separate CSV — useful if you're bringing historic results into SquadTracker, but players must already exist before you import results for them.
Removing or deleting a player
Adding players is covered here — for taking a player off your active squad, or permanently deleting one who won't be coming back, see Removing and Permanently Deleting Players.
