How to turn push notifications on or off, what triggers one, and what to check if they stop arriving

Last updated: 2026-10-04

Push Notifications

SquadTracker can send push notifications to your phone for things like match reminders and new chat messages. This covers the on/off toggle, what actually triggers a notification, and what to check if they stop arriving. It works the same way whether you're a coach or a parent/player in the Hub.

What you'll learn

  • Where to turn push notifications on or off
  • What events actually send you a push notification
  • That the toggle and the setting are shared across the coach app and the Hub
  • What to check on your phone if notifications stop arriving
  • That logging out and back in re-registers your device

Quick Steps

  1. Open the app on your phone — The first time you log in, your phone asks permission to send notifications — allow it.
  2. Go to Account — Coaches: open Account, then the Notifications card. Parents and players: open Account in the Hub.
  3. Find Push notifications — There's a single toggle here, on by default.
  4. Switch it off if you'd rather not be notified — Turn it back on any time the same way.
  5. Give it a moment — Changes save straight away; there's nothing else to confirm.

What sends a notification

With the toggle on, you'll get a push for: a new team chat message, a match reminder before kick-off, a training reminder before a session, a lineup being published, a reminder to fill in match stats after a game, a reminder for the coach to complete the teamsheet, an achievement being unlocked, and occasional "what's new" announcements about app updates. Chat notifications are limited to one every 2 minutes per conversation, so a busy chat doesn't flood your phone.

If notifications don't arrive

Work through this in order:

  1. Check the toggle — Go to Account → Notifications and confirm Push notifications is on.
  2. Check your phone's permission — On iPhone, go to Settings → Notifications → SquadTracker and make sure notifications are allowed. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → SquadTracker → Notifications.
  3. Check Android battery optimisation — Some Android phones silently block background notifications for apps under aggressive battery settings. Check your phone's battery optimisation settings and exclude SquadTracker if needed.
  4. Log out and back in — This re-registers your device for push notifications, which can fix a token that's gone stale.

One setting, every device

The toggle is per account, not per device, so turning it off applies everywhere you're logged in. If you use SquadTracker on more than one phone, each device registers separately in the background — you don't need to do anything for that.
